In the October 2014 (#215) Issue of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate the US journalist Monica Larner published the article "Getting it right Chianti Classico" and reviewed, among others, our Castello d'Albola wines with excellent results: Il Solatio Chianti Classico Docg Gran linea Selezione 2010 92 points Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva 2010 91 points Acciaiolo Toscana Igt 2011 90 points Monica Larner had great words for Il Solatio and Castello d’Albola: "The 2010 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Il Solatio shows a deeply streamlined and traditional style with elegant tones of blanched almond, forest berry, dried blueberry and wild flower. The use of oak is supportive, but absolutely unobtrusive. Of the various Gran Selezione wines I tasted, Il Solatio was most faithful to a traditional school within this new category. I am thoroughly encouraged by the recent stylistic improvements being made at Castello d’Albola. The beautiful 2010 vintage is the perfect showcase for recent investments and winemaking tweaks put forth by the Zonin family who owns this landmark estate. Because Castello d’Albola has some of the highest vineyards in Radda in Chianti, the wines are consequently more streamlined, tight and bright in terms of acidity. They represent a “classic” interpretation of Chianti Classico and I found that to be true in 2010 (a temperate vintage) more than ever.
