On the occasion of Vinexpo 2013, last June 19th the Great Wine Capitals Global Network and the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a conference with the objective to give an overview of the various wine tourism activities and performances in the Networks member regions (where Florence is included). With a focus on the influence of wine tourism services on the general performance of the different wine estates, 4 guest speakers presented the key figures and facts of the ‘Best Wine Tourism Practices in the Great Wine Capitals’ (www.greatwinecapitals.com). Michele Zonin, Vice President at Casa Vinicola Zonin Spa and member of the Board of the Chianti Classico Consortium, gave insight into wine tourism practices in the Chianti Classico area, emphasizing the activities of the Consortio to support wine tourism at local wineries. As an example, Michele Zonin focused on the success story of Castello d’Albola with wine tourism. More than 100 professionals attended the conference.
